Challenges and Limitations of the Existing Technology
Here are some of the challenges that we are facing today:
- Knowledge is locked in people's heads because there are no controls in place to enforce its proper capture and there are no mechanisms to record it with minimal effort. When people leave the company, knowledge leaves with them.
- Finding right information is hard. Existing approaches are either too generalized (a search field), or too specific (a rigid form). Things get even worse when you don't know exactly what you are looking for.
- Same knowledge cannot be reused both by computers and humans. Machine-readable knowledge (e.g. rule management systems or databases) is to rigid for humans. Human-friendly knowledge (e.g. wikis) is too fuzzy for computers.
In-depth analysis of the current state of knowledge management technology can be found in the Resources section.
Benefits of Our Technology
Our solution solves these challenges by combining best features of existing technologies with an innovative approach to knowledge design, capture and retrieval:
- Knowledge can be defined as a dynamic mix of structured and unstructured information with full control of its structure and hierarchy.
- It provides a flexible and easy to use interface to enter new or modify existing knowledge with minimum effort and maximum support from the system.
- Powerful search mechanism allows you to enter as much or as little information upfront as you want and will help to fill in missing pieces and narrow your searchh until you find what you are looking for - or discover something new and better!
- You can capture knowledge that is actionable by the computer, as well as information for human consumption - both at the same time in the same system!
These unique capabilities are accompanied by all standard features of knowledge management systems, such as web-based interface, flexible access control, collaborative tools, approval workflows and interfaces/APIs to integrate with your existing systems.
